Pawsitively Reading
1st & 3rd Thursdays, 3:30pm - 4:30pm by appointment only.
San Jose Book Shop and Pet Pals AAT present a new free reading assistance program for children experiencing difficulty reading!
Gaining confidence in reading has never been more enjoyable - or cuddly. Children feel more comforable reading to a dog. Kids know that if they make a mistake, stumble over a word, or don't know the meaning of a word, the dog will neither laugh nor ciritcize. Therapy dogs listen to children completely unconditionally, leaving children to enjoy the experience of reading without fear. Therapy dogs can help children learn to read, and love to read. When children are relaxed, they are more willing to attempt more difficult reading levels, talk about the books they read, and absorb content more easily. All of the dogs in our program are the pets of the volunteer handlers. Petpals carefully screens each dog for temperament and health.

Brown Bag Lunch - Law of Attraction series with Mary Ursettie
Start the year with a fresh perspective and make 2008 your best year yet! Put away all those goal-setting exercises and let the universal Law of Attraction bring you more of what makes you happy.
This class repeats every Thursday.
Mary Ursettie, Law of Attraction coach, will be teaching a series of brown-bag seminars (ok to bring your lunch) to explain the Law of Attraction and how to apply it to your life. Each week she’ll show you a new easy-to-use Law of Attraction tool. With these simple tools (this is not rocket science, folks!) you can begin to create a better life for yourself.
Topics include: how the Law of Attraction works, what it means to live in a vibrational universe, being a sender and receiver, it’s ok to have a bad day, how you create your reality and how to change it, getting clear about what you want, tools you can use to improve your relationships and make your life better every day.
Prerequisite: A strong desire for change!
Cost: $35 per class
